Dale Stein, CEO, IPx Connect

Dale Stein brings 30 years of entrepreneurial, sales and marketing experience to his post as CEO of IPx Connect, a provider of Web conferencing and e-learning solutions. IPx Connect provides small to midsize businesses with cost-effective Web conferencing. The company also provides telecommunications organizations with industry authorized training in a variety of areas such as Converged Technologies Professional (CTP) along with a host of other valued-added courses. IPx Connect delivers training from its corporate headquarters in Southern California directly to companies located around the United States through its IPVideo Learning Platform.

Stein co-founded Technology Assurance Group (TAG), a national organization of independently owned telecommunications providers, and currently serves as its vice president of strategic planning and business development. He holds responsibility for developing TAG’s strategic planning and guiding its business development. One of the nation’s most sought-after speakers on the sales process, Stein developed TAG’s proprietary Seven-Step Sales Solution.

Until the spring of 2000, Stein served as CEO of INET Inc.. Under his leadership, INET achieved more than $3 million per annum in internal sales growth and became the No. 1 distributor of Mitel products in North America averaging $18 million in business. The company was acquired by a Pac-West Telecomm in 2000.

Stein also founded Westec Security Corporation and served as its CEO. While there, he grew the private security company to more than $30 million in annual revenues. He sits on TAG’s board as well as those of several other independent businesses, including Powerhouse.com.

Stein is active in the community and has a long history of participating in philanthropic activities. He is a board member for San Diego Social Venture Partners and the chairman of the board for Human Development Foundation. He received a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry University in Chicago and certification from Harvard University’s Small Company Management Program.

Brian Dean, Co-Founder and CTO, IPx Connect

Brian Dean is an industry expert with more than 25 years of experience in the areas of voice, video, and data convergence technologies. He co-founded IPx Connect, a provider of Web conferencing and e-learning solutions, in 2003 with Dale Stein and Dale Johnson. Dean has assembled a team of experienced industry professionals in the areas of voice, video and data convergence. Together this team has created a world-class conferencing network to provide cost-effective managed conferencing and training solutions based upon today’s industry standards.

Previously, Dean was the president and founder of INET Inc., a systems integrator opertating in the United States for more than 20 years. Publicly traded Pac-West Telecomm acquired INET Inc. in February 2000. Dean led the advanced solutions group and strategic technology marketing group of Pac-West until September 2001. In October 2001, he founded Technology Utilization Solutions (TechnologyUS), a full-service technology consulting, outsourcing and training firm serving integrators and businesses throughout the United States. Within its first year of business TechnologyUS achieved more than $1 million of savings and reduced ongoing technology operating expenses by more than 10 percent for many of its clients through TechnologyUS’s “best practices” recommendations and services.

Timothy C. Colwell, Director of Knowledge Operations, TeleManage Training

Tim Colwell is a certified master instructor with 14 years of telecommunications management experience. His professional expertise spans management consulting, budget management, cost containment, contract negotiations, inventory development, service provider relationship management and network infrastructure design. Colwell draws upon his diverse telecommunications business consulting and technology management experience to lead the best practice and knowledge operations team at TeleManage Training, a subsidiary of Telecom Solution Center.

Colwell develops and delivers a comprehensive series of telecommunications management workshops and certification programs. He is a contributing editor for several industry publications and associations, and sits on the Association of Telecom Management Professionals (AOTMP) board.

Colwell approaches education and knowledge content development with the philosophy that telecommunications business management best practices are distilled from successful experience, a complete understanding of core business objectives, and the desire to create profound results using ordinary means.

Prior to joining TeleManage Training, he spent three years as director of support services for a telecommunications consulting firm. While consulting, he managed project teams consulting for Fortune 500 and Forbes Private 50 clients. Tim’s telecommunications practices and methodology have been refined and proved over 500-plus client consulting engagements.

Earlier in his career, he was director of sales and marketing for a telecommunications hardware manufacturer. He managed OEM distributor and channel sales in North America and served in product management and application engineering capacities during his tenure. He has a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications management from Indiana University.

Elizabeth C. Brewer, Knowledge Associate, TeleManage Training

Beth Brewer is a trainer with TeleManage Training, a subsidiary of Telecom Solution Center. She has nearly 15 years of telecommunications experience encompassing operations, finance, logistics, engineering, marketing, sales management and quality assurance. Her background includes 10 years experience mastering business-to-business relationships. In addition, Brewer is well versed in negotiations, problem resolution and customer relations.

Prior to joining TeleManage Training, Brewer worked for a major telecommunications carrier in product quality assurance management, where she developed the customer trial structure for both home networking and telephony products. Brewer then facilitated those trials, ensuring guidelines were met to achieve independent, comparable results.

She also operated as director of sales and marketing for an Indianapolis-based telecommunications company. Brewer approaches telecommunications training with a mix of student education, hands-on-training and common sense. She believes in the saying that “Knowledge is Power” and works hard to make those words a reality.

Earlier in her career, Brewer spent many years with Verizon, most notably as a sales engineer. She analyzed customer requirements and created proposals to insure long-distance voice, data and Internet products met customer objectives. She also provided expertise in long-distance pricing, long-distance voice and WAN network configuration, provisioning and implementation. Additionally, she trained sales and support staff on network products and processes.
